Student Creed
I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental health or physical health.
I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others through honesty, respect, courtesy, patience, courage, compassion, commitment, and self-sacrifice.
I intend to use what I learn in class constructively and defensively to help myself and others and to never be abusive or offensive.
Student Philosophy
Our philosophy is one of non violence. We believe in developing an individual’s character and morality through the positive aspects of the Martial Arts. The student comes to realize that the physical discipline is but one part of their training and that the mental and spiritual discipline become equally important aspects of their training. Only through the integration of mind, body and spirit does the individual become a complete Martial Artist. Though the student develops confidence in and recognizes that he/she has the physical ability to successfully defend themselves in a confrontation, they realize that it is better to use reason and intelligence to try to settle a dispute and only use their physical skills as a last resort.
Training Safely
Training safely is our number one concern! All students are taught how to use each piece of training equipment properly and safely and to respect the safety of other students. Safety equipment that is required to be worn in certain aspects of training is strictly enforced.
The atmosphere in our classes is that of a family with each student being an individual member of that family. Every student is important and is respected and recognized for his or her individual accomplishments and contributions. Cooperation, not competition with each other is the key factor here!
Physical Exercise
All classes start with short warm up exercises and some stretching & flexibility exercises. This is done to condition your muscles and prevent injury to those muscles during training. Proper diet and exercise have been proven to help in weight reduction and reduce daily stress. Regular physical exercise will also keep your muscles & body toned and strong and will give you an overall good feeling about yourself. Because we realize that everyone’s physical condition is different, students are encouraged to exercise at a level that is comfortable for them individually.
