Chris' last fight

Posted on: Saturday August 16, 2008

This was Sifu Chris Clark’s second amateur fight, this event took place on july 12th 2008 at combat in the cage in Delaware. This was a very exciting battle between Sifu Chris and Scott Hutt from RGDA. For the first round Scott executed his plan to take Chris down to the mat but Chris used his jiu-jitsu skills to keep Scott from putting him into any serious danger. The fight lasted for three heart racing rounds and Chris almost secured a Kimura which Scott being very flexible was able to narrowly escape, the fight ended 48 seconds in the third round when Chris caught Scott into an arm bar from the triangle position.

Order of the Isshin-Ryu Seminar

Posted on: Tuesday July 15, 2008

Practical MMA expands its horizon by teaching a Jeet Kune Do seminar for the Order of Isshin ryu in Chesapeake City.

“On June 21st the Order of Isshin-Ryu gathered for their annual summer shiai program. The seminar presented on Saturday featured Master Sifu Tom Clark and his son Mr. Chris Clark. Sifu Clark is a Jeet Kune Do (JKD) instructor and has studied under Masters Dan Inosanto, Larry Hartsell, and Richard Bustillo—all of whom studied directly under JKD founder, Bruce Lee. The three hour seminar began with several applications from Seiuchin kata, based upon Sifu Clark’s Goju-Ryu background. The choke evasion in the beginning of the kata became a takedown, and the bear hug counter turned into palm heel and knee strikes. The next part of the seminar focused on basic JKD pivots, advances, and retreats. Sifu Clark also covered ‘sticky hands’, a drill to improve reading an opponent’s next move, and ways to transform an opponent’s reverse punch into an elbow lock and figure four takedown. Next on the agenda, Mr. Chris Clark gave an introduction to Muay Tai kickboxing. Starting with basic footwork, Mr. Clark then taught kicks, elbows, and knees that are essential to this system. Finally, Sifu Clark again took the stage to cover knife fighting drills from the Philippines.”

March 29, 2008

At Jacks Kickboxing Gym in Newark, DE was Baltimore’s own Sifu Chris Clark, fighting his first semi-pro MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight. After months of vigorous training the fight ended in a no contest due to an unintended foul (thumb in the eye) to Sifu Chris.

Many other entertaining matches took place that night with fighters from gyms from all over the east coast. Including kickboxing, boxing and MMA style fights. Overall it was a great night. There were a few good knockouts and a few good decisions. We would like to thank Jacks Gym for the chance to fight.

We are currently training additional fighters to compete in up coming MMA events. For more info on how you can compete with us contact Chris.
